When Do You Need Dental Bonding?

You may consider dental bonding if you are experiencing any of the following dental issues:

Chipped or fractured teeth: Dental bonding can repair minor chips or fractures in teeth, restoring their strength and appearance.

Discolored teeth: Bonding is a great option for covering stains or discoloration that does not respond to whitening treatments.

Gaps between teeth: Bonding can close small gaps between teeth, improving the overall appearance of your smile.

Tooth shape and size issues: If a tooth is uneven or slightly misshapen, dental bonding can smooth and reshape it for a more uniform look.

Whether it’s a cosmetic concern or a functional issue, dental bonding offers a fast, affordable solution to enhance your smile.

When Do You Need Dental Bonding

What Is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is a cosmetic dental procedure that involves applying a tooth-colored resin material to a damaged or imperfect tooth. The resin is carefully shaped to match the natural contours of your tooth and then hardened with a special light, ensuring a smooth, durable finish. Bonding is ideal for:
  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Discolored or stained teeth
  • Minor tooth imperfections
This versatile treatment is non-invasive and can be completed in just one visit, making it a popular choice for patients who want quick and effective smile enhancements.

The Dental Bonding Procedure: What to Expect

The process of dental bonding is simple and usually requires no anesthesia, making it a quick and comfortable option for patients. Here’s what you can expect during your visit:

1. Consultation and Assessment

Dr. Wetmore will assess the condition of your teeth, discuss your cosmetic goals, and determine if dental bonding is the best option for you. We’ll review your treatment options and customize a plan that fits your needs.

2. Tooth Preparation

Unlike other dental treatments, bonding requires little to no tooth preparation. Dr. Wetmore will lightly etch the surface of the tooth to help the bonding material adhere securely.

3. Application of Bonding Material

The tooth-colored resin is applied to the prepared tooth and shaped to match the natural contours of your smile. This resin is carefully molded to fill in gaps, smooth out chips, or cover discoloration.

4. Hardening and Shaping

Once the resin is applied, it is hardened using a special light. Dr. Wetmore will then shape the material to create a smooth, natural look that complements your other teeth.

5. Polishing

After the bonding material is hardened and shaped, Dr. Wetmore will polish it to match the sheen of your natural teeth. The result is a flawless finish that blends seamlessly with your smile.

Aftercare for Dental Bonding

Aftercare for Dental Bonding

After your dental bonding procedure, it’s important to follow a few simple steps to ensure the longevity of your results:

Avoid Eating Hard Foods: For the first 24 hours, avoid chewing on hard or sticky foods that could damage the bonding material.

Maintain Good Oral Hygiene: Brush and floss your teeth regularly to keep your bonding intact and prevent decay or staining.

Avoid Staining Agents: While the resin is stain-resistant, it’s a good idea to avoid excessive consumption of coffee, tea, or tobacco, which could discolor the bonding over time.

Regular Checkups: Keep up with your regular dental visits to ensure the bonding material remains in good condition and to monitor your overall oral health.

Seriously the most kind, caring, thorough dentist I have ever been to. Dr. Wetmore was kind and attentive to my anxiety while at the same time making sure I was comfortable through a long drilling for a crown and very thorough making sure I was numb enough and the bite would be just right. I struggle with self care and this is the first dentist in my life where I wasn't shamed for it. And even though I was scared for the procedure I felt so safe here. Awesome place! The front desk staff, hygienist I saw and assistants were all super skilled and amazing too. Thanks ladies!

Sunflower Dental Spa is for me the FIRST Dental Office that I enjoy going to. I walk in and I am greeted by, 3 Wonderful Ladies with Beautiful Smiles. And even though they know that I can never remember their names, they know mine.Rachel, my Dental Hygienist, took me back to begin my cleaning... Well at my last cleaning, I misunderstood something that she told me... so this time I asked her to please show me... and she did.Once Rachel finished, she went and told my Wonderful and Most Excellent Dentist, Dr. Justin Lieneck that it was his turn to come in and check out my teeth. As Justin is checking out my teeth, I asked him, "Do the look okay? You are taking an awfully long time..."Justin said, "I'm checking each one of them...but I don't see cavities." That isn't exactly what he said, but I can't remember word for word, like I used too.But if you are looking for a place to go that will take care of your Teeth.... I Highly recommend Sunflower Dental Spa 🌻
Excellent team and dental care .Very nice and informative .Doctor Justin and Diane are awesome.

It’s hard to put my appreciation into words. Dr. Wetmore and her staff were so helpful and welcoming. They were able to work with my insurance and I to go from consultation to surgery in less than a month, and for half the price I was quoted from Aspen. I was very nervous going into the surgery and amount of extractions I needed but was put at ease with all of the commendations they offered. I highly recommended the laughing gas for anyone that feels the same way. The entire surgery was painless, completely painless and took about two hours. It’s now one day post op and other than some soreness I have never felt better. Sunflower dental deserves all the praise they get in these reviews. Truly an amazing experience. I am so grateful.
